Unable to add Assets in STYLY Studio

I have a student who is trying to use the web-based STYLY Studio. She can create a new project, but when she clicks on the "add asset" button, she gets the following error:

"The webpage at https://assets-selector.styly.cc/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new address."

She is using Chrome on a MacBook Air.

I know that the site is not down, since I can add Assets using my laptop and I'm on the same network. I suspect it has something to do with her computer, specifically.

We tried accessing STYLY Studio through Firefox, but she was unable to even create a new project. The site just crashed.

I have asked her to clear her browser cache, so I will report back if that is successful. Otherwise, has anyone else had this issue?

Ok, I have another suggestion to you.

Please launch STYLY in incognito mode in Google Chrome.

Some troubles happen with STYLY due to Google Chrome extensions.

If she still can't add assets, it must be due to the low specs of her pc.

Dear David Han,

Thank you for using STYLY, and I appreciate that you explain the situation of your student in detail.

Just like you, I could add assets on STYLY Studio. I think there are 2 solutions, and 1 solution is clearing browser cache, as you said.

Second solution, let her to try launching STYLY with Safe mode. Safe mode is a boot mode in which only the minimum necessary functions are available.

The following article is about STYLY Safe mode.

Best regards,

She tried clearing her browser cache and received the same error.

I have suggested the safe mode, however, when I try the safe mode link (https://build.styly.cc/studio/release-safemode/) it is unclear how it differs from regular mode. I can still add assets and publish Scenes.

I think that the cause of the error may be lack of memory of her PC. More than 4GB of memory is necessary to use STYLY properly.

Launching STYLY in Safe Mode makes the scene light.

If she cannot add assets even in Safe Mode, the cause of the error may her PC.

I think safe mode did not work. I'm not sure how much memory she has, but it is a MacBook Air, so it doesn't have a lot of processing power and likely not a lot of RAM. So is this the kind of error she would receive if her machine didn't meet the minimum specs?

OK, so she managed to figure it out.

The error she was receiving was "The webpage at https://assets-selector.styly.cc/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new address."

So she tried going directly to https://assets-selector.styly.cc/ in an Incognito tab and her browser informed her that it was an unsafe site. She opted to "Proceed anyways" and the browser prompted her to alter her privacy settings. After doing so, she is now able to use STYLY studio as expected in an Incognito tab.

Unfortunately, she wasn't quite sure which privacy setting she had to change, but she was sure that Chrome seemed to think that the site was unsafe and she had to opt to "Proceed anyway".

I hope that helps anyone else that may run into this issue.

Thank you for explaining about her error in detail, David.
